🚑 Buckle Up, Lancaster! Medtrans Just Hit the Gas on Better Healthcare!

There’s a new ride in town, and it’s not your average set of wheels. Los Angeles-based Medtrans just opened a brand-new medical transport facility right here in Lancaster, bringing a big win for both healthcare and local jobs.
The ribbon-cutting celebration at 42515 Wall Street drew quite the crowd. Representatives from L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger’s office, local hospitals, the Antelope Valley Fire Department, and AV Edge all came out to show support for this major addition to the community.
Medtrans provides non-emergency medical transportation and critical interfacility transportation, helping patients get safely from one healthcare facility to another when they need specialized care. With its new location in Lancaster, the company now has a stronger presence in the Antelope Valley, making it easier to serve local hospitals, clinics, and care centers.
The expansion also brings new employment opportunities to the region. Medtrans plans to hire locally and help train new EMTs, offering residents a chance to build meaningful careers close to home.
“This is more than just a new building,” said Avo Avetisyan, president of Medtrans. “It’s about bringing peace of mind to patients, families, and care providers who depend on safe, reliable transportation.”
For the Antelope Valley, this move represents progress on two fronts: improved medical transport services and new job opportunities for local residents. It’s a welcome investment in a community that continues to grow and thrive.
🗳️ Prop 50 Passes - Here’s What It Means for the AV
California voters just approved Proposition 50, and it could shake up how our congressional districts are drawn starting in 2026.
The measure gives the state legislature temporary control over redrawing California’s congressional maps instead of the independent redistricting commission. Supporters say it keeps things fair after other states changed maps to gain political advantage, while critics call it a political power move.
For us here in the AV, the 27th Congressional District might look different soon. Areas like Acton and Agua Dulce could shift into the nearby 30th District, while Rosamond, Mojave, and California City are expected to stay put in the 20th District.
New maps will roll out next year, so keep an eye out and double-check your voter registration when they drop. The bottom line? California’s political map is getting a refresh, and the Antelope Valley could be right in the middle of it.

🪖 Honoring Our Heroes: Veterans Day Ceremonies Across the AV

This Veterans Day, the Antelope Valley is coming together to honor the men and women who’ve served our country with courage and heart. From Lancaster to Mojave to Palmdale, the community is showing up to remember, reflect, and give thanks.
In Lancaster, the annual ceremony at Lancaster Cemetery’s Veterans Court of Honor starts at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Expect patriotic tributes, special guests, and heartfelt moments of remembrance. The AV Young Marines will present the colors, local singer Joan Enguita Willingham will perform the National Anthem, and U.S. Army retiree Benjamin Berk will deliver the keynote address. Guests are encouraged to bring flags and flowers to honor loved ones.
Over in Mojave, Legacy Park at the Mojave Air and Space Port will host its ceremony at 11 a.m., featuring remarks from CEO David G. Smith and keynote speaker Donald Parent, a decorated U.S. Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient. The California City High School Cadet Corps will present the colors, and refreshments will follow.
And in Palmdale, the community will gather at the Palmdale Amphitheater for one final farewell to the AV Wall - a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The five-day tribute runs Saturday through Wednesday, with a candlelight ceremony Sunday at 8 p.m. and a Veterans Day ceremony on Tuesday at 11 a.m. The wall, open to the public 24/7, bears the names of over 58,000 service members and has been a traveling symbol of remembrance for 16 years.
This Veterans Day, take a moment to pause, attend a ceremony, or simply thank a veteran.

🦃 Lancaster’s Annual Turkey Giveaway Feeds Thousands This Thanksgiving - Nov 15

The season of giving is here, and Lancaster is kicking it off with one of the community’s most heartwarming traditions with the 2025 Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway!
Join the city on Saturday, November 15 at 10 a.m. at the Lancaster Community Center as volunteers, city staff, and sponsors come together to make sure every family can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. Last year, over 10,000 families received turkeys, and this year, the City of Lancaster is ready to serve even more.
The drive-up event will run while supplies last, with one turkey per vehicle. Be sure to arrive early. The line begins at Trevor and Nugent, and don’t forget your valid ID. No walk-ups are permitted, and distribution is first-come, first-served.
It’s more than a giveaway, it’s a moment of gratitude, unity, and community spirit that reminds us what the holidays are really about: neighbors helping neighbors.
