🛠️ AVC Students Get Ready for Takeoff with New Northrop Grumman Partnership

Big news for AV College students! Antelope Valley Community College students have teamed up with Northrop Grumman to give students in the Aircraft Fabrication and Assembly program some serious hands-on experience.

The new three-year agreement, approved by the college board on October 14, will open district facilities for real-world training and could even lead to job opportunities with Northrop Grumman. That’s right, students will get to learn the ropes in the same industry they’re preparing to join.

Under the agreement, the college will take the lead on running the program, selecting students, and providing orientation before training begins. The classes will be taught by certified instructors, keeping a close 20-to-1 student-teacher ratio to ensure everyone gets quality attention and support.

Northrop Grumman will stay actively involved by reviewing training materials and working closely with the district to make sure the program matches what the aerospace industry needs right now. The company will also assign a representative to keep communication smooth and the program running efficiently.

While completing the program doesn’t automatically guarantee a job, it definitely gives students a head start. Those who excel in their coursework could be recommended for open positions with Northrop Grumman once they graduate.

This partnership marks another exciting step in connecting education to real-world opportunity here in the Antelope Valley. With Northrop Grumman’s continued presence and investment, local students are getting a direct path into one of the region’s most high-tech and high-paying industries.

🚀 Top Story: Supersonic Future Takes Flight

Big news from right above the Antelope Valley — X‑59 Quiet SuperSonic Technology, NASA’s sleek new jet built by Lockheed Martin in Palmdale, soared into the skies this week, marking a major milestone in quiet supersonic travel. The experimental aircraft took off from Plant 42 and landed safely at Edwards AFB after climbing to around 12,000 feet at 230 mph.

What makes this flight a game-changer for the AV and beyond? The X-59 is engineered to fly faster than the speed of sound (Mach 1.4) without the booming crash typically heard from such jets, instead producing a soft “sonic thump” that could finally open the door to over-land supersonic commercial flights.

With NASA pouring more than $500 million into the program since 2018, this test is just the beginning of a campaign designed to reshape aviation and announce the AV as a cutting-edge hub of aerospace innovation.

⚽AV Alta FC - Just Short Of The Playoffs

In their inaugural season, AV Alta FC came up short and not make the playoffs for the 2025 USL League One season. They finished 9th in the league standings with 36 points, just outside the playoff positions. The playoff spots went to the top 8 teams, and AV Alta FC was unable to secure one despite their efforts in the final matches of the regular season. This is just the beginning and we are should be proud of the performance this season. Next season we’ll be in the playoffs!
